We have always felt immense gratitude for the opportunity to live
in North Alabama. Our dad came to the area almost 40 years ago with the same aspirations
as most - to provide the best life for his family. The professional and personal success
he has had is a direct result of the opportunities given to him by the people of North
Alabama. The community has supported his efforts as physician and small business owner, as
well as his time as a State Senator and now as a United States Congressman.
But, just as important, the North Alabama community of
teachers, librarians, and youth leaders provided us, his children, a positive,
challenging, and loving learning environment that led to our own successes. Through our
schools and public libraries we were encouraged to feed our curiosity about ourselves and
the world around us. We were afforded the opportunity of unlimited access to the passions
of teachers, librarians, and other adults who consistently reminded us that no question,
no curiosity, and no dream was out of reach. We all feel privileged to give back to the
community that has been so instrumental to our personal and professional achievements.
The Parker Griffith Family Foundation is committed to supporting North Alabama parents,
teachers and communities in their quest to instill a love of reading in all children. With
a love of reading, a child develops an insatiable curiosity about themselves and the
world. It is this curiosity that breeds achievement and pride, which leads to success and
fulfillment.
