Without question, fostering a love of reading can have a profound, positive impact on a child’s life. It is the mission of the Parker Griffith Family Foundation to work as a partner with North Alabama schools and communities to develop strong reading skills in elementary school students.
Since its inception in 2005, the Parker Griffith Family Foundation has awarded over $100,000.00 to area teachers and classrooms and is committed to serving as a consistent resource for those on the front lines of elementary education in North Alabama.
Each year, the Parker Griffith Family Foundation awards a $200 Reading Readiness Grant to every elementary school library in Madison, as well as other counties in North Alabama. The grant is given to the school librarian who is tasked with using the money to encourage the love of reading in his or her students.
